Summary: Monuments and the development of art in the period of
Renaissance (15th and 16th centuries) in Croatia. Problem of the style and
development of art: continuity of Gothic, Gothic-Renaissance style, Early
and Cassic Renaissance, Mannerism. Architecture: direct and indirect
influence of the Classical arts connections and its relationship towards
the Renaissance centers in Italy, Austria and Hungary. Prime Renaissance
monuments of architecture: the cathedral of Šibenik, Trogir chapel, Villa
Sorkočević, "trefoil facades". Relation between the sculpture and
architecture (other collaborators): masters and workshops, literature and
visual arts (C. Fisković), painting (G. Gamulin, Z. Demori-Staničić),
sculpture (I. Fisković), fortifications (L. Dobronić), graphic art (M.
Pelc).

Research goals: Sinthesised study on visual arts in the period of
Renaissance in Croatia from architecture to the graphical arts. Scientific
interpretation of the items cited in the summary actually represent the
titles of the chapters in the monograph. Textual part has been largely
documented by: architectural survey of the Renaissance monuments and
metrical analysis; topographic maps of the monuments after their content,
type and date; photographs, significant archival documents; literature,
comparative substance. For the sake of integrality, and finances
permitting, the result of the project by Dr. Nada Grujić (villas, and the
culture of countryside life) and Dr. Anđelko Badurina (monastery culture)
and some others are planned to be a part of the respectable publication.
