Summary: The project includes investigation of the two complex
acheological sites: "Crkvina" Galovac and the area surrounding St. Cross
church in Nin. On the site of "Crkvina" in Galovac theEarly Christian
sepulchral and sacral architectural complex has been established as well
as the cemetery that continuously existed from 5th to 18th century. It has
been planed to continue investigations of the Early Medieval cemetery and
the settlement agglomeration in the area surrounding the St. Cross Church
in Nin, which had previously started. The investigations of the two
mentioned sites are undoubtedly going to produce valuablescientific
results which would enable enhlightenment of the problem of continuity from
the late Roman period into the Middle Ages, as well as of the
investigation of the genesis and development of the material and spiritual
culture of Croats in the Northern Dalmatia.
Keywords: Early Christianity, pre-Romanesque period, material and spiritual culture of Croats.
Research goals: The aim of this research was the investigation of
the two complex archaelogical sites: "Crkvina"in Galovac and thearea
surrounding the St. Cross Church in Nin. The sistematicresearch of those
two sites is expected to produce important results which would enable
further englihtenment of numerous and still not sufficiently elaborated
problems connected with the inception and development of the material and
spiritual culture of Croats in Northern Dalmatia region, once the central
area of the early feudal Croatian state - Dalmatian Croatia.
