Summary: The project will employ historiographic methodology, and, amongother things, should answer the following questions: -what was the process of the development of the Croatian nation(1918-1991) like? -how was the political battle for the sovereignity of Croatiaconducted? -what were the stages in the process of modernization of thesocity, compared to that of the countries belonging to the samegeopolitical and civilizational group (mid-Europe)? -the contents and patterns of the political life of the society. The text will include all the necessary statistical and othertables. The text will include all the neecessary statistical and othertables. The text will also comprise answers to many debatable issues,such as emigration, the Hebrang case, Jasenovac, Bleiburg,Jazovka, the Lorkovic-Vokic coup, a number of trials andpersecutions, etc.

Keywords: Key terms will come primarily from the field of historipgraphy aswell as from the fields of politology, sociology, economy andculture theories. the state etatisme, dictatorship, totalitarianism, nation, classes, hegemonism, state unitarism, national identity, directed (command) economy, market, selfgoverment centralism, political system etc.

Research goals: It is of vital importance for every modern and civilized nationto have its written history, starting width its beginnings andstretching till today. A written history, as well as othersources of public knowledge (literature, culture, etc.), is abasis for a development of national consciousness. Since Croatiahas recorded no scientific approach (not even textbook) dealingwith its recent history, the research as proposed should beconsidered an urgent task for our new Croatian state, and a taskof utmost importance. Scientific research of the main political, economic and socio-cultural processes in Croatia in the period of 1945-1991. and political analyses of the phenomena.
