Summary: In elaboration of Glossary many preparatory works have been done: lists of scientific terms from different fields in geophysics that should be included in Glossary and the procedure for their elaboration. Besides the short explanation of terms in Croatian there will be adequate terms in English, French and German. At many meetings of the Committee for the nomenclature in meteorology up till now more than 2500 terms and their equivalents in English were discussed and accepted . Wherever that was possible Croatian terminology was taken. Greater part of these terms were approuved from the Institute for Croatian language. For some of branches in meteorology and for hydrology Glossary forms are completed. The names of winds in the area of Adriatic were also investigated in detail and an article about it was accepted for publication in Cratian Meteorological journal.

Research goals: The elaboration of the multilingual Glossary, which should include the whole field of geophysics with Croatian terms and their explanations will have also adequate terms in English, German and French. Large number of specialists from different fields will make a list not only of existing terms in Croatian but also coin new terms. This is of great importance having in mind how many English terms are now in professional language of Croatian scientists and that is necessary to clean from Croatian language also all terms from Serbian origin. A large number of terms have no unambiguous or well-defined definitions what further justifies production of a Glossary.
