something more?

Summary: The study deals with the relationship between inconsistency
and psychoticism, and a number of self-rating scales for the assessment of
other personality dimensions. Subjects gave their ratings on the shyness
scales two times with an interval of 90 minutes within which they responded
to various personality questionnaires. Inconsistency was defined as an
absolute difference in self-ratings. A somewhat higher inconsistency in
response was found among males when compared to female students.
Inconsistency was not correlated with either Eysenck's personality scales,
sensation seeking scales, machiavellianism, or some other personal
attributes. The findings indicate that inconsistency can be treated simply
as a measurement error, at least within normal population.
Keywords: response inconsistency, personality dimensions, sensation-seeking, shyness
