Summary: The main target of the research project was the validation
of our conceptualization of the quality of life and the scales especially
constructed to measure this concept. The validation of the concept and the
quality of life scales was done through the comparison of the quality of
life measures obtained from subjects living in objectively very diffrent
enviroments and circumstances (students in Croatia, Austria, Sweden and
USA), and to some citizens and dispaced persons in Croatia. The obtained
results strongly support our conceptualization of the quality of life and
show that the scales are adequate for measuring this complex concept.
Within this project we have also constructed some new scales for the
measurment of Health Locus of Control (for adult persons and children). The
scales were applied to students, school children and wounded soldiers. The
results show that both scales have good psychometric characteristics. Part
of the project aimed at examining Lazarus' stress model and coping
strategies in different stress situations. For these purposes some of
Lazarus' questionnaires were translated, adapted and provided with some new
questions. The results will be presented in the doctorial thesis of mr. L.
Arambašić.
