Summary: The basic idea of this Project is the fact that in every
human community, in every culture there also exist children's subculture
which has an important role in human ontogenesis, and is therefore
interesting for developmental psychology. Children's subculture has its own
tradition in which children appear as creators, mediators and transmitters.
Children's play, especially traditional children's games, constitute a
significant part of this level of culture. There has been collected a ludic
corpus of children in Slavonija which was identified and described, and
then it was compared with the games of New Zeland and Great Britain. In
this paper the game as a free semiotic creation has been identified by the
analysis of its structure. The games have been anulysed as children's
product, as rounded up semiotic creations, and it has been done in the way
it is commonly done with myths, rituals, dramas, arts etc. The data of the
games are additionaly supported by the data of the process of the game -
playing. Games and game - playing (in which the zone of proximal
development is reflected) may serve as productive, indirect way of studying
of many psychic functions. By focusing the attention on the structural
characteristics of games in this Project, the idea was to find the answer
to the following question: Does the structuring of games imply any
assumptions that have the value of a developmental forerunner of
metacognition?
Keywords: Children's subculture, play, simbolic play, traditional children's games, the zone of proximal development, metacognition, human ontogenesis,
Research goals: Aims: -to identify and describe in full detail the
games belonging ofthe ludic corpus of children in Slavonija, - to find out
whether the ludic corpus constitutes a specificfeature of the subculture
of children in Slavonija, - to make a structural analysis and a new
classification of thegames on the basis of study and systematic
observation of thereal process of playing on a sample games, - to
establish and describe the development forerunner ofmetacognition in game
- playing throught a logical analysis ofnecessary preconditions for the
game structuring and by means ofthe assumptions about the development of
metacognition. Other information about the project.
