Summary: The image that a person has of himself is fundamental to his understanding of himself and the relation between him and the environment. The intercultural project which is carried out in the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia should show the levels of personal image and its content's differences or similaritaties. The aim is to estimate whether there is a link between a person's image and his understanding of the social and moral problems. The study was conducted on a sample of 100 young people, aged from 18 to 24. The sample was standardized according to the moderator variables and subjects' school background. The study instruments consist of an interview about subjects' maturity concept, the interpretation of the dilemmas' stories and the James Rest questionnaire about the moral opinions. The results should help us to understand the developmental pictures of persons living in different cultures, and at the theoretical level it should contribute to our understanding of the concept of universal cognitive, moral and social development expressed in the levels and the empirical verification of R. Oerter's theory of implicit antrophology. The study is outlined according to the paradigms of Bronfenbrenner's Human Development Ecology.

Research goals: This research has the following aims: 1. To estimate whether the subjects differ with regard to the ranking level and the description of the image content about a person's self in two different cultures (Croatia and Slovenia). 2. To estimate whether there is a link between a person's image of himself and his moral judgements. The achievement of these aims makes it possible to understand personal image development in different cultures and to contribute at the theoretical level to the theory of implicit anthropology.
