Summary: Theoretical investigation of the structure and dynamics of
atomic nuclei and their constituents by studying the longitudinal and the
transverse response functions at higher energy and momentum transfers.
A-dependent effects will be looked for, as well as the possible influence
of the constituent substructure.
Research goals: The aim of the proposed research is the possible
determination of the way the high-lying resonances, seen experimentally, in
heavy ion grazing collisions are excited. Namely, besides the inelastic
excitation there is the possibility for pick-up break-up double exchange.
In the longitudinal channel there is the possibility of gaining the insight
into the effects due to the substructure of the constituents. This is a
long term project and the current and the planned experiments will provide
clues and the challenge to the theoretical understanding. This year the
result on the A-dependence of the mechanism of the excitation of high-lying
resonances is expected. Other information about the project.
