Summary: Monodentate N-heterocyclic pyridine-, pyridinium- and
bis-pyridinium aldoximes react with the aquapentacyanoferrate(II) ion
(AqP) by forming usually coloured oximatopentacyanoferrate(II) compounds
of a 1:1 molar ratio where are the oximes linked to the iron through the
nitrogen of the oxime group. Dealing with bidentate oximes, depending
on the preparation procedure, mononuclear or binuclear complexes may
form, where beside water one cyanide ion from the metal reagent is
also substituted. To our present knowledge, oxo-oximes and
ortho-substituted nitrosonaphtols examined through this project, react
with the AqP ion by forming cyano-bridged binuclear
tetracyanoferrate(II) complexes. Mercury(II) ions are found to catalyse
these reactions.
Keywords: Cyanoferrates(II), oximes
Research goals: The low-spin complexes of iron are model substancies
in the examinations of interactions between metal and ligands in
biological systems (proteins, enzymes, porphyrines etc.) On the other side
many oximes are effective antidotes against organophosphorus poisoning
(insecticides, nerve gases) so are the investigations of their reactions
interesting regarding their biological properties as well as respecting
the possibility of their specific analytical application for the detection
and determination of micro amounts of oximes. The aim of this
investigation is the learning of the reactions of different oximes with
the pentacyanide complexes of iron and the establishement of the way of
their bonding in a complex compound. Other information about the project.
