Summary: Structural investigation of bioactive glycopeptides
including the peptidoglycans and synthetic prepared glucoconjugates of the
enkephalins in solution, and structure-biological activity correlation.
Study of complexation mentioned compounds with metal cations, to make the
structural elucidation easier, and changing the biological activities. In
realization of this project modern one- and two-dimensional NMR
spectroscopic method will be used.
Keywords: peptidoglycan, peptidoglycan monomer, enkephalin, enkephalin glucoconjugate, one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, structure in solution, conformation of peptides, conformation of glycopeptides
Research goals: Structure determination in solution of compounds
possessing biological activities, including peptidoglycans, which exhibit
significant immunomodulating properties in mammals, and synthetic prepared
glycosidic esters of the opioidic peptide enkephalin, and correlation of
structures and biological activities- SAR (structure activity
relationship). Introduction of modern one- and two-dimensional NMR
spectroscopic methods, rarely used in our country, and their application on
bioactive molecules in solution. The results of this investigations can
contribute to development of new active compounds in pharmaceutical
industry. Other information about the project.
