Summary: The project comprises several segments: a) syntheses of new
adamantyl phencyclidines and their characterization by instrumental
methods b) biological testing of these compounds using cultural cells and
mice in order to get data about toxicity, anesthetic and analgetic
properties c) Investigation of new polynitroadamantane compounds
determining their explosibility properties and efforts for their
synthesis on a laboratory scale. d) Syntheses of new hexacyclic cage
systems with strained cyclopropane ring in their structure in order to
test their chemical and physical properties. Application of combined
spectroscopic and theoretical methods to elucidate the structures of new
compounds. e) Structure-activity and/or structure-reactivity relationships
of new compounds by QSAR and QSPR methodology, respectively.
Research goals: Syntheses of new adamantyl derivatives of
phencyclidine including thienyl and other aromatic moieties instead of
phenyl, and their testing on cells and lower animals presumably would show
better analgetic and anesthetic properties than phencyclidine itself,
with lower toxicity. For these compounds it is also expected to be
efficient radioprotectors. Calculation of explosibility parameters for
polynitroadamantane compounds would allow the proper choice of their
synthesis on the laboratory scale and experimental testing of their
properties. Such compounds could posses the better explosion
characteristics than HMX. Synthesis of triaxanoadamantane and
triaxanonoradamantane, hexacyclic cage compounds with cyclopropane in
their structure would allow experimental investigation of
structure-reactivity relations in order to propose organic reactions.
