Summary: The reserves of weed flora and vegetation were established
in European countries within the program of ecosystem protection. For
comparison, in Croatia there was not made even the complet inventory of
weed species. The detailed investigations were made only for row crop
weeds, but only in continental part of Croatia. Other cereals were made out
only sporadically till recently, when systematic surveys were made.
According to reports (European Weed Research Society), we are the members
of wich too, the investigations of weeds in Croatia, particularly from the
phytogeographical point of view, were not sufficient at all. So, this
project will have two main goals: phytogeographical distribution of each
single weed species and plant communities, as well as the quantitative
relationships as the basis of agroecosystem management.
Research goals: Goals: 1. floric maps for each single weed species
on the ground net of UTM system 2. weed vegetation map for Croatia 3.
analysis of the weed flora according to UTM quadrants 4. analysis of the
total weed flora: a: floric elements b: life spectrum c:
relative abundance 5. syntaxonomical divison of weed vegetation 6.
ecophysiological characteristics of weeds Expected results: Qualitative
and quantitative relationships within weed vegetation in cereals, within
complete weed vegetation and whole vegetation of the investigated area as
well as the knowledge about biology and ecology of weeds. It should be the
basis of both the weed controle and protection of endangered species. Other information about the project.
