Summary: The researches will be carried out primarily within the
regions of Dinarides, in NW Croatia and in central part of Pannonian basin.
The most consideration will be given to comprehension of subsurface
geological setting. In comparison with surface data the three-D structural
models will be worked out in detail. Through this procedure the efforts
will be made to discover the development of structures in neotectonic
period and movement mechanism as well. The structural details from surface
to different depth levels will be emphasized together with active periods
especially the most recent ones. This include seismotectonic parameters as
well as definition of earthquake occurrence zones. The results of field
work, cabinet and laboratory investigations will be presented on various
types of maps, profiles and correlation reviews.
Keywords: surface and subsurface geological structures, neotectonic and seismotectonic relations, mechanism of tectonic movements
Research goals: The collecting of new data and
structural-neotectonic interpretation of previously taken geophysical
explorations, geological mapping, profiles and bore holes. The
reconstruction of geological structures in depth and three-D arrangement of
rock masses of different density. Determination of markers of neotectonic
movements, classification of structural units, structures and faults
regarding their role within the regional structural fabric, neotectonic
activity and type of tectonic movements as well. The correlation of surface
and subsurface geological setting and determination of neotectonic active
zones, characteristics of particular phases of geological evolution and
possible tectonic movements in three-D. The contribution to a more complete
knowledge of surface and particularly subsurface geological setting in
light of fundamental scientific sense is to be expected. For the regions of
Croatia the paleostructural, facies and sedimentary relations of
neotectonic period would be reconstructed. Furthermore, the definition of
neotectonic movement mechanism, earthquake occurrence causes and new
details in seismotectonic relations is to be expected as well. Other information about the project.
