Summary: The investigations include the chosen sites in some flysch
terrains of the coastal area of the Adriatic Sea and in the aquatorium of
the Rijeka Bay. a) The coastal area of the Adriatic Sea. The study of the
physical-geological processes including the flysch coastal slope and the
flysch terrains of the middle area of Istria. The determination of the
erosion intensity of the flysch deposits of the Middle and Upper Eocene by
means of the terrestrial photogrammetry. To determine, by laboratory
testing, the physical and mechanical parameters of particular lithologic
flysch components which are important for erodibility. To compare the
erodibility indicators with the results of the repeated measurements by
means of phototheodolite. To explain the phenomena and processes in the
function of time and climate. b) The aquatorium of the Rijeka Bay. On the
coastline and in the submarine zones there are traces of the former sea
level stages, i.e. of marking horizon. Their today position allow the
conclusion about the vacillation of the sea level during Quaternary. The
cognition about the geological structure of the underwater surface has been
widened by submarine mapping. The cognitions about the intensity of the
marine erosion are possible.

Research goals: Aims: the data collecting about the characteristics
and dynamicsof some physical-geological processes. The cognition about
theintensity of the rocks subjected to erosion, and the
quantitativeexpressing of the erodibility of the particular
lithologicalflysch component. It can be used as the basic measure for
rankingother rocks. By the repeated prospecting of the same motives
byterrestrial photogrammetry in somewhat longer period todetermine, by
instruments, the intensity and dynamics of erosionand the deficit of the
rock mass in time. To improve the methodof the terrestrial photogrammetry
in order to become the standardone for observing the erosion. To determine
the influence of theclimate changes, glacio-eustatic oscillations of the
sea-waterlevel and neotectonic movements through Quaternary in
theaquatorium of Rijeka. To find out the influence of the change ofthe
erosion base on the hydrogeological relations and thecarsting intensity in
space and time. Results and the expected contribution: Gaining the
cognition inthe field of "engineering geodynamics". Practical application
inwater resources management, agriculture, forestry and harbour
engineering.
