Summary: The project represents a logical continuation of regional hydrogeological research work in the Republic of Croatia. Current studies have resulted in hydrogeological zonation and have provided methods of research for some specific problems as well as in the selection of strategic groundwater resources with proposals for their protection. The project consists of records and analysis of groundwater data which were collected during the investigations of large water works and water supply systems. The aim is to evaluate the efficiency of the research performed and the utilisation of data obtained, on a regional level. The results of the project will serve as a basis for proposals to improve future research work on the protection of the quality and quantity of groundwater resources and environment.

Research goals: The aim of the project is to evaluate the efficiency of investigations performed and research methods applied. The results should provide a basis for drafting instructions and proposals for improvement of future research work and its interpretation for possible changes in the groundwater regime in a given area. They will contribute to a better knowledge of hydrogeology of the Republic of Croatia and offer an exact basis for the solution of a variety of ecological problems. The interpretation of data will be used as material for a number of MS and PhD theses.
