Summary: The mobile communication efficiency in frequency,
space, and time is the main field of research. The coverage zones are
concerned taking in the account co-channel interferences and
intermodulation. The existing propagation models will be verified by
measurement and modified to suit the needs of application in croatian town
areas. Also the research concerns the microwave active antenna systems for
mobile radiocommunications. The main goal is to build up an experimental
model of an active antenna array by integrating passive planar radiators
and active devices.
Keywords: Radiocommunications, Satellite communications, Mobile communications, Microwave technology, Microwave integrated circuits, Antenna, Microstrip antenna, Active antenna, Antenna array
Research goals: The goals of this project are coordination and
advancement of the research in the field of mobile communication efficiency
in frequency, space, and time, and the research in the field of microwave
active antenna systems. It is of great interest to stimulate fundamental
and applied research in new fields and to enhance the exchange of
information which are based on new experiences and results. A contribution
is expected in the defining of the coverage zones taking in the account
co-channel interferences and intermodulation. By verifying the existing
propagation models, by measuring, and by modifying the models for special
applications (especially in the city of Zagreb) it will be enabled to
achieve new theoretical knowledge in the field of terrestrial and satellite
mobile communications. The research on active antenna systems is mostly
based on the theoretical knowledge and experiences which are due to the
cooperation on the EC COST 223 project. It is also expected a contribution
in defining the national research program in the most propulsive fields of
radiocommunications i.e. mobile communications and satellite broadcasting.
In the later phase it is expected a contribution in measurement
standardization in the field of active antenna systems. It is planned a
development of CAD software for antenna elements and arrays, and active
devices. This will, with the forthcoming integration of computer networks,
enable faster gathering of theoretical knowledge and much better
possibilities for verification of the experimental results in comparation
with the non-coordinated research efforts.
