Title: Climatic characteristics as precondition for renewable
energy sources application in residential buildings in heating systems

Summary: Concerning the energy shortages conventional energy sources
havea dominant role. Other energy resources as, for example, renewable
energy sources, are insignificantly represented in atotal energy balance.
Knowledge of the outdoor properties; as air temperature, himidityand
enthalpy, is the precondition for renewable energy sourcesapolication in
residential buildings heating. In this paper toensure proper conditions for
Rijeka is coastal zone thesimulation of the heat sources load has been done
for heating ofresidential building. The results are a real base for
solarcollectors and heat pumps application, as compound systems forboth of
them.
Keywords: meteorological parameters, renewable energy sources, residential building heating

Summary: A summary of the concept for the Study of the energetic
systemfor the Region of Rijeka is given. The Study will screen andanalyse
the actual state and give the concept of the developingscenary of the
energetic system for the Region of Rijeka. TheStudy will include the
conventional as well as nonconventionalenergy sources.

Title: Solar radiation energy balance during the reference year

Summary: The appreciation of the climatic factors characteristic for
theentire region has been highly significant not only for theproject
engineering and the operation of heating andair-conditioning units but also
for the construction of thebuildings. Only the scientific investigation of
the effects ofthe relevant meteorological parameters it is possible to
achievesuch a heating and air-conditioning system as to satisfy
alleconomic, hygienic and phisyological requirements.
The heat loss and gain estimates in heating and air-conditioninghave been
analyzed with the critical approach to the elementsexpected to unite the
simultaneous influences of differentmeteorological parameters. The existing
data for the heat or thecooling output have shown that peak loads
particially never orvery seldom occur. By establishing the "test reference
year" suchdisadvantage has been eliminated, since the
meteorologicalparameters recorded within the 10-year sequence provide for
the"typical", least extreme months in that period. Such a year, composed of
the most typical months in a 10-year sequence iscalled the "synthetic
reference year".
The selection of the reference year with the characteristicmonths,
representing the homogeneous sequence has rendered thereal values of all
meteorological parameters together with theirnatural changes and
interrelation. Thus all the requirements fora reference year showing daily,
monthly and annual naturaloscillations of all meteorological parameters
have beenfulfilled.
