Summary: Investigations carried out so far were performed on the fractured surfaces of materials which worked in agressive evinronments. Investigations of the fractured surfaces were performed on various materijals, many of which were stainless steels and steels for the fractured surfaces was different for the same category of materials and for the same agressive environment. The phenomena of corrosion fatigue and stress corrosion cracking were observed, which lead us to perform further investigations. Researches were directed into the field of investigations of stress corrosion cracking and corrosion fatigue (SCC/CF) of stainless steels for biomaterials applications and materials for manufacture of off shore technology equipment. The investigations of material aimed for off shore technology are connected to the construction and operation problems of large systems. An additional impulse presents the fact that the International engineering associations attack an increasing importance to the factors controlling SCC/CF in new plants aimed for energy production or materials for new technologies. New SCC/CF phenomena always appear. However, on of principal causes of failures can still be conteplated as a results of casualities, therefore more care must be devoted to these casualities, which can cause failures. The proposed investigations may also have a practical character (nature) because with a better knowledge (understanding) the danger of appereance of SCC/Cf during production, from the initial phase up to the shut down may be diminished.

Keywords: stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue, corrosion cell system, elektrochemical measurements, metalographic investigations, Auger spetroscopy

Research goals: On behalf of the proposed investigation project we tried to determine corrosion fatigue and stress corrosion cracking more in details, based on simple reason of steady occurrence of oxydation and corosion corosion fatigue by solving the practical problems. In the last time we have had also problems with stress corrosion cracking of methals. It was our opinion that it is not enough only to inform the scientific community in the usual way about the results obtained during these investigations, but that there it is much more important to evaluete some events in laboratory conditions. On behalf of the analysis of great number of fractured surfaces obtained from the praxis, it could be concluded about the causes of failures. We tried to obtain the fractured surfaces in laboratory conditions. On behalf of these results a systematisation of the fractured surfaces being a results of action of stres and aggressive environment could be performed. Such an evaluation would present an systematisation of fractures from the initial crack formation up to the final fracture.
