Summary: Determing the Earth's gravity field is executed through the international scientific collaboration and it is the major subject of the research within the project "Gravitational field in geodesy, geophysics and geodynamics". The long lasting elite astronimcal observations at night have been carried out for the purpose of necessary thickening of "new geodetic points" at the territory of Croatia and Slovenia, and also the computer assisted calcultaion of the accompanying astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical. Along with the global model for the Earth's gravity field, there was a great number of other extensive databases (mean relief heights, various gravity anomalies, crustal mass density, depth of the Mohorovičić's own discontinuity and sediments base, bathimetric and altimetric data for the Adriatic Sea). The theoretic basis has been gradually worked out and the computer programs have been prepared so that the first determination of the geoid surface and of other parameters referring to the gravity field were realized in 1992 by means of the following three methods:astrogeodetic (land), altimetric (sea) and gravimetric (the whole territory of the Republic of Croatia). The topographic effects were found out by means of digital relief models and density, collocation models were included thorugh the procedure "Remove - Restore", and for the gravimetrical geoid the FFT - method was used. A special attention was paid to the local variations of the geoid and the complete gravity vector because of the oil and gas prospections in a selected test-area of Croatia. The first phase of GPS measurements within the geodynamic project "CRODYN" continues onto the international project "EUREF'94", by which Slovenia and Croatia will finally be connected onto the basic Europena 3D-network. The preparations for the establishment of "referential absolute gravimetric network" are just being carried out.

Research goals: The title of the project itself defines the goals set for the project, and by adding the activity of the centrifugal force which is easy to be determined, one passes over from the gravitational into the Earth's gravity field. Modern and efficient GPS-measurements offer exclusively geometrical information - spatial coordinates of the station points. For their application it is neccessary to have already achieved subdecimeter or even better "cm"-model of the geoid surface, spreading through Slovenia to Austria, in order to enable the transformation from ellipsoid into the in the praxis indisepnsable orthometric heights (altitudes).Regional and local highly distinguishable geoid model, as physically defined reference surfaces, are necessary in all geosciences (geodesy, geophysics, oceanography), in numerous projects, e.g. for using the altimetric measurements from the Satellite ERS-1. With highly precise geodetic measurements, in the processing of which it is now obligatory to take the gravity field influences into consideration, the valubale contributions may soon be expected in better understanding of the tectonic processes in our seismicly active area, as well as in the observation of the geodynamic changes preceeding the earthquake. Therefore the GPS measurements were done for the first time on the islands and at the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea in 1994 within the project "CRODYN". A special attention was paid to the local variations of the geoid and the complete gravity vector for the prospection of oil and gas in the selected test area of Croatia. An extensive campigne of GPS measurements was prepared in the international project "EUREF '94" for the final connection of Slovenia and Croatia to the basic European 3D-network. Thus we enter Europe de facto, especially since the "reference absolute gravimetric network" has been established for Croatia.
