Summary: The project includes the following studies: a) prevalence
of the latent toxoplasmosis in edible tissues of domestic poultry, b) value
of the Direct Agglutination Test for the diagnosis of human and animal
toxoplasmosis, and c) effects of various physical and chemical methods on
the viability of Toxoplasma gondii tissue cysts and oocysts.

Research goals: The purpose of these studies are: a) to asses the
potential hazard for humans and animals of contracting toxoplasmosis by
eating undercooked poultry tissues, b) to introduce the very simple Direct
Agglutination Test in the diagnosis of human and animal toxoplasmosis, c)
to determine a reliable method for killing tissue cysts inedible tissues
and to kill oocysts in laboratory premises and yards.
