Summary: The importance of the project is development of principal
multidisciplinary method for forest state and changes determining and
monitoring by application of methods, that allow quantitative analyses and
comparison;by organisation (in EMFT data base)and use of existing data on
properties of 63 defined and spatially delineated EMFTs as elementary
units.Methodological procedure of determining of spatial and time
explanation of development and relationship,included
identification, selection and quantification of indicators and their
operational criteria for:(a)potential state (that quantify forest
structure, development and functions), (b)changes of stand (that quantify
the effects of induced stresses),(c)exposures (that quantify integrated
physical, chemical and biological pressures as indicative causes of forest
damaging). The method is developed and tested on EMFT II-G-10 and
III-K-10.To express the potential state, stands of optimal production were
modelled and quantitatively described by regression functions for certain
properties.Named and quantified are stand vitality as a measure of state
and changes;stand exposure to pressures as an indicative measure of
vitality changes;synthesized and elementary indicators and diagnostic
parameters as criteria for evaluation of measures mentioned. The results on
stand vitality difference between two measurements and on category
differences of stand exposures obtained by introducing diagnostic
parameters, indicate the method applicability,as well as usefulness and
sensitivensess of indicators for EMFT state and changes defining.
Keywords: Natural forest ecosystem, ecological-management forest type, normal state of stands, vitality, model stand, synthesized indicators and diagnostic parameters, stand exposure
Research goals: In ecological-managerial forest type (EMFT) II-G-10
forest of common oak with common hornbeam and in the most significant
karst EMFT forest of pubescent oak and oriental hornbeam: 1.To define
relations among ecological and structural stand elements and to select the
indicators of losses caused by technopressure, inadequate management,
fires and game. (2) In EMFT II-G-10 to determine critical vitality degrees
of stands up to which it is possible to prevent forest decline, by proper
management practices. (3) To propose the stand model for optimal
production under certain ecological conditions. Expected results: 1. Model
for evaluating of expected damages, 2. Model for evaluation of forest
ecosystem as environmental ecological capital, 3. Database supported by
GIS, that could be used for other purposes (geostrategic research,
Environmental Information System), 4. Designing of principal
multidisciplinary integral method for determining and monitoring of forest
state and changes.
