Summary: The properties of polymer and metallic packaging materials
as well as their combinations were examined in food packaging
preservation processes. The special attention vas pointed out concerning
the problems of migration interactions in the system:
food-package-enviroment, in model and real systems, respectively.
Simmultaneously the changes of both food characteristics and packaging
materials during storage were determined. Polymer materials including
biodegradable foils were used for food packaging in a modified atmosphere.
Certain properties of auxilary materials such as organic solvents,
sticking stuffs etc. were also examined.
Research goals: In food processing development food packaging and
preservation is of the great importance as well as the development of
packaging materials and packaging technology as a whole. The main research
topics are: the problems of migration in the system
food-package-enviroment; packaging and preservation in controlled (
modified) atmosphere; development of new safe packaging materials including
biodegradable polymers. For this purpose the behavior of polymer and
metalic packaging materials in contact with foodstuffs have been examined.
Storage conditions and food preservation in various packages have also
been investigated. Monitoring of migration processes and simultaneous
determionations of physico-chemical parameters which are relevant for food
quality controll have also been done. The final aim of this experiments is
not only the development of packaging materials in our country but also
the connections and adaptation of standard methods and regulations to
international norms.
