Summary: Project including basic investigations of the influence on the drying stages with energy which are need for the drying process, and quality of crops. Investigations and measurement if driers work, collecting data using for quality of crops, minimum energy consumption, and maximum through put capacity of drier. Also, project including basiclly investigations about possibilities for using hydrothermical treatment "cooking" before drying process. This treatments are producing much more digestibility of feed mix and energy savings.

Research goals: The investigations are been enveloped drying process of crops by optimal working range with computer automatization. That means, the largest capacity of driers with minimum energy consumption and the best quality of corn. In this investigations are including environmental protection. For this moment there tested 27 different hybrids and changes of it's physical caracteristics. This is results of different stages of drying (drying speed temperature). Stages of fluidization of one hybrid are defining (crops from year 1991-92). Also, this investigations are describing influence on the perforated or nonperforated corn kernel in the relationship with drying speed (10 different hybrids). At least, possibilities of hydrotermical treatmant before drying are evidence in Croatia those tehnologies will be saved about 10.000 tons heavy oil per year.
