Summary: The project "Models of adult educaton in the context of
sociala and professional changes" deals with the study of the present
situation and further possibilities for advancing the model of non-formal
vocational education. The researchers gather, classify and analyse all the
information available concerning educational systems in the world and in
Croatia relevant for the processes of non-formal adult education. The most
important professional changes are also followed by comparative studies.
Models preparing for entrance into a particular chosen vocation, models of
personnel education (especially managers) and models and forms of
re-training in Croatia and other countries are investigated and analysed
from the educational point of view. Models corresponding to the changes in
our economic and social development will be offered according to the data
obtained and the evalution of real possibilities. The research is
interdisciplinary. It is directed only to those urgent problems of
professional changes which is possible, under given conditions, to study
more intensively. The study of the possibilities for re-training disabled
war veterans was introduced into the project on account of the importance
of the problem and its connection with the subject matter investigated.

Research goals: An important progress has been made in the field
of adult education, i.e. in adult education theory and practice in the
world, while there is a considerable lag in our country in this field.
Research, especially in non-formal vocational adult education, has been
neglected. The object of the research is to define the present
situation and the possibilities for further development of non-formal
vocational adult education. The object includes the following tasks: 1. to
establish the changes in occupations and in non-formal vocational adult
education in the world and in our country in the wider context of the
educational system; 2. to study models for entrance into a particular
vocation (acceptance, internship); 3. to investigate models of non-formal
education of managers (processes, forms, contents, methods); 4. to identify
models and forms of re-training (from readaptation to rehabilitation of
disabled war veterans and work handicapped). Beginning with theoretical
studies, empirical investigations and date interpretation, possible
improvements, which are evaluated by pilot investigations, are projected .
The results which could be directly used in practice are expected.
Theoretic contribution are also expected. There is a possibility of a more
complete insight because the research has been conducted interdisciplinary,
i.e. from adult education and communication aspect, adult education and
didactic aspect, personnel aspect, psyhological aspect, and economic and
