Summary: Although Starcevic's philosophy of law represents a
significant theory in the context of the philosophy of politics in the
19th century, it has received almost no reception. Commencing from the
thesis that Starcevic's thought and definition of law and state,
especially his explication of the idea of Croatian statehood, are a
remarkable incentive for contemporary research into the purpose and
significance of the human political community, this project particularly
dealt with Starcevic's postulates in the context of the current
realization of Croatian statehood.
Keywords: philosophy, law, state, nation, custom, morality, social morality, Croatian statehood, political rhetoric, ethics, science of life
Research goals: The goal of this project is the reconstruction and
revaluation of the key system of concepts upon which Starcevic's conception
of the philosophy of law and state is singularly grounded. The phenomena of
social morality, law and state, their definitions, continuation, the
phenomena of development and constitution, represent a constant
preoccupation within Starcevic's philosophy. Analysing the origins
Starcevic's politics of philosophy, this study compares classical
Aristotelian and the Roman conception of state with modern theories,
beginning with the thesis that in the philosophy of politics in the 19th
century Starcevic offered a remarkable stimulus for conemporary research
into the purpose and significance of the human political community. The aim
of research also consists in preparing the publication of the works of
Ante Starcevic Other information about the project.
