Summary: The theoretical and practical rules sancioned by the legal
system in Croatia 1945.-1952. established the monopoly position of the
Communist party. Etatization of industry, centralization of government, and
collectivization of agriculture was assosiated with a climate of power and
lawlessness. By the end of 40,s increased political tensions among
peasants, inside Catholic Church, between followers of the Croatian Peasant
Party and individuals who opposed the current state politics in Croatia.
Their actions shows aspects of political developemnt of Croatia where not
even the post revolutionary communist dictatorship could not eliminated the
desire for a distinct national identity. The legal mechanisms in Croatia
were primarly used for physical eliminationa and discouragement of
political opponents. Using various methodologies, the researchers pays a
special attention to the practical rules sanctioned by the legal system in
Croatia as well as to the totalitarian style of the newly established
power of the communist placed in culture, ideology and economy. All these
regions had one thing in common: no political entity whose interests were
in disagreements with the Communist party had any chance of being protected
by law.
