Summary: The project contemplates the aim of making a
contrastivedescription of the Croatian language and other
languages:English, Spanish, Macedonian, as well as Greek, Latin and
NewGreek. The contrastive description of some languages includesseveral
language levels, and only a limited number of levels(morphology, formation,
lexicology, phraseology etc.) in otherlanguages. The contemporary situation
is studied in the firstplace, but an occasional approach to diachrony is
not excluded.
Keywords: contrastive linguistic, contrastive language description, language levels, contrastive morphology, contrastive word formation, contrastive lexicology, contrastive phraseology
Research goals: The aim of this project is the contrastive study of
Croatian and other languages, including their systems on different language
levels. Theoretical as well as practical aims are expected. The theoretical
aims are represented by different types of scientific surveys of the
relations between the two languages. The practical aims include preparing
of thematic textbooks and dictionaries. The work on the project shows good
results in the theoretic field (articles, studies, books), as well as in
the practical field (the series of "Small Phraseological Dictionaries"). Other information about the project.
