Summary: Semiconductor materials and electron devices based on
monosilicon, polysilicon and heterostructures. Simulation methods in
semiconductor technology. Modelling of phenomena in semiconductors.
Modelling of phenomena in semiconductor devices. CAD methods in analysis
and design of semiconductor devices and microelectronic circuits.
Unconventional applications of semiconductor technologies in
thermodynamics and sensorics. Scientifically established high-school
textbook of semiconductor electronics and semiconductor electron devices
(Faculty of Electrical Engineering - Zagreb). Numerical methods
applicable to electromagnetic problems and expert systems in design of
point to point radio communications (Faculty of Electrical and Mechanical
Engineering and Naval Architecture - Split). Interpretation and analysis
of electronics concepts and terms in English language (Faculty of
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture - Split).
Research goals: The increase of our competence in the field of high
technologies, specifically in semiconductor technology and
microelectronics. Realisation of semiconductor-ceramic structure that will
result in new devices in thermodynamics and sensorics. Investigation of
characteristics of degenerate silicon, polysilicon and heterostructures
and their applications in microelectronics. Development of numerical and
simulation methods for these fields. Development of CAD methods for
VLSI/ULSI circuit synthesis, specially those that lead to the design of
application-specific integrated circuits. Final goal is an automated
design of these circuits. Investigation of bipolar cell with lateral
current flow that is basically different from known vertical and lateral
bipolar cells. One of the goal is to write the scientifically established
high-school textbook of semiconductor devices, first of this class in our
country, that is based partially on available world references and
partially on the research results from our environment. The part of the
project at the Faculty of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Naval
Architecture (Split) consists of an extensive study of the numerical
methods applicable to electromagnetic problems, design of an expert system
for point to point radio communications design and work on finishing and
expanding "Electronic Dictionary" that was published in 1991.
