Summary: The research is directed into three types of concrete: 1.
Steel and polypropilene fibers reinforced normal and lightweight (with EPS
bids) concretes. Mechanical properties are studied on laboratory models,
and in situ performances are followed on certain special structures erected
as application of our research. The fracture mechanics models for
explanation of test results are under development. 2. Laboratory and in
situ methods for durability relevant parametars of reinforced concrete
structures were previously developed. Now, the devices are calibrated in
lab and on site conditions. The mathematical model for service life of
concrete reinforced structures is under development. 3. Computer aided mix
design of concrete is developed for normal weight concrete designed for
specified strength, workability and durability conditions. The further
development comprises implementation of influence of admixtures into the
program and analyses of data bases studying the auto and crosscorrelations
of data on ingredients and concrete
Keywords: special concretes,lightweight concretes,fibre reinforced concretes,durability
Research goals: Improvment of concrete properties and performances
as follows: - Further development of polypropilene fibers reinforced
leightweight concrete on the basis of expanded polystirene bids. Such
concrete will be of lower density and higher toughness, resistant to
physical influences. - Development of steel fibers reinforced concrete to
formulate optimal concrete composition resistant fatigue, and high
intensity cyclic loads. - Development of engineering model for reinforced
concrete durability design. Methods to measure the relevant durability
parameters have to be improved. The correlation between lab and in situ
test results has to be defined. These investigations shall contribute to
standardization of method for testing the rate of damage of concrete
structures,as well as evaluate the materials and methods for their repair.
- Development of mathematical model for quality control and assurance of
concrete structures on the basis of the properties of concrete ingredients
by means of statistical methods. The model shall enable conection with
previosly developed data bases and improve the quality control.
