Summary: Immunogenetic and molecular studies of diseases associated with HLA genes carry on to discover genetic mechanisms in disease developing and to improve the diagnosis, therapy and prophylaxis. Family and population studies with aim to discover high-risk genes and haplotypes for several diseases such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia, insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumathoid arthritis, are basic for this project. By introducing of new molecular techniques such as DNA typing of HLA class II genes, the detection of new genetic markers will be possible. As the only Croatian centre, in which the prenatal diagnosis of CAH can be performed by HLA typing, we will improve this test by introducing new methods (DNA typing, cordocentesis).

Research goals: tske bolesti otkrivanje osoba nositelja gena visokog rizika pomoći će u liječenju i profesionalnoj orijentaciji takvih osoba. Kod parova s problem infertiliteta pokušat ćemo na većem broju uzoraka pokazati stupanj učestalosti genetičkih nepravilnosti 6.kromosoma, dokazivanjem porijekla genoma na embrionalnom tkivu.
