Summary: The goals of education differ, so their psychological,
economic, political and cultural effects should not be compared. The
contribution of education to the quality of life, which is conceptualised
as the level of satisfaction vith various life domains and with life as a
whole, can serve as a common indicator of the effectiveness of education
in influencing the personality and in improving the acces to various
objective sources of satisfaction. In order to test this hipothesis,
the connection between the level of education and some important
psychological factors of quality of life is established. They are the
following: the level of aspirations on achievement in various life domains
(value system), perception of achievement of different values,
satisfaction with achievements in different life domains and in general
satisfaction. This connection depends on the following factors: sex, age,
family status, work status, intelligence and some fundamental personality
traits (neuroticism, extraversion introversion and psychoticism). The
causal comparative research design was used. Data were collected on a
sample of 537 respondents. Group differences were tested by means of
analysis of variance and multiple regression. Significant connections
between education and cognitive and affective evaluation in several life
domains were found.
